Drone Scotland filming Santa, creating digital content to raise charity funds

Drone Scotland have continued to support those in need within our community through digital content. We may be a small business but we make use of the skills we have to try and make our community a better place.

We’ve been supporting out local G71 Community Action team since the beginning of the pandemic. The work they do is incredible. A team of volunteers source, cook and deliver hot meals, groceries and prescriptions to those who need it in our community. This includes the vulnerable and those who have been self-isolating. They also support other charities including Women’s Aid and the local children’s hospitals.

In December 2020, the G71 Community Action team decided to bring a little cheer to the local villages – Uddingston, Bothwell, Birkenshaw and Viewpark. They raised funds to source and deliver 3000+selection boxes and cakes to local children. Not only this but they delivered it in a huge convoy of cars with Santa leading the way! The part we play is in creating digital content to promote the cause and help raise funds.

Drone Scotland played our part by creating digital videos to promote the event and then capturing the weekend event on camera. Bjorn, our chief drone pilot, filmed the convoy directly from Santa’s Sleigh. (although not from a drone for health & safety reasons) We used ground cameras and equipment to capture the fun and create good digital content. And it’s not every day you get to work with Santa!

We are still a small (but fast growing) business but we try and make use of the skills we have to make a difference. We love helping our local community and find the work so rewarding. This year we’ve made over 20 digital videos for the G71 Action Group. Each time we release digital content there is a spike in donations. No matter how busy we are we always make time to help. We will continue to support the community action group moving forward.
